Anyone interested in a rimfire shoot? I have had a few people ask me if we can start a rimfire shoot (Rifle). Some targets, some steel? Maybe mini sniping? I welcome any ideas.

Actualy, yes. Like the idea of the "Mini Sniping", could be fun. Or ... just ...

Wait a minute you tricked me. This discussion area is for non firearm related subjects. Rimfire shoots are firearm related...I may be slow but I'm not stupid. Still interested thou!

Bad Pat....
When your talking Rimfire are we talking Rimfire Magnums and .17 rimfires... Cause I have me a nice little Marlin 17hmr I'm quite handy with...
Scopes no scopes... Whats the definition of a Rimfire shoot for this one... I know this is something Scott really wants to do...
We could run a junior .22 rim shoot on the lower range like the Boyscouts used to do up at Camp Helendade up in Big Bear... There's enough room for that...
It would be nice to burm some sand up against the railroad ties for that...

22 rimfire (no magnums, no 17HMR's etc.) Our steel can't take that abuse. (Until we get new steel)

If there is enough interest in 22mag/17hmr a side match can be done . Very easy

So its all steel huh... I was thinkin' paper... Cause my 17hmr shoots sub MOA groups.... :D
Best money I've spent on a Rimfire in years...

It's up to the match coordinator, but if we have a mini sniping event, 17's could probably participate.

Ok , i'll plan that.

When I said rimfire I meant rimfire...22 short, long, long rifle, magnum, 17 both flavors! I only own LRs but I'm willing to lose to any rimfire. But I'm not writing it up, so I'll go along with what ever Scott is willing to do. ;)

I"ll work on a 17hmr shoot if there is enough interest . Maybe 5-6 guys

CSCAdmin1

I think we'd have more than 5-6 guys showing Scott... You know we can used the Rifle side that we use for three gun for the side Magnum 17/22 part of the match... and stuff could still go on on the pistol side of the upper range...

Do .17M2s count as magnums or what? Been looking for an excuse to rebarrel my 10/22.

17HMR's will do some damage to the plates. Not sure about the 17 HM2 though.

I can get pallet wood... I've got a truck load of pallets I'm breaking down for winter time...

The 17hmr's I know are quite nasty however from what our Former Range Safety officer and I found out unless it's flesh it usually just frags... Probably will pit just like any other .22 over time...

I was looking to put some logs on the BBQ to make it last longer. A bag of brequets(Coals) only lasts about an hour.

Logs huh... What size you talkin'... 3-4 inches thick... A log to to me is at least 24" I split all my wood.... ;) I don't know what the BBQ will take so give me an idea and I'll pull some stuff out of my seasoned wood pile... I know I have some California Yellow Cedar that when it burns it gives a nice bed of coals...

Sounds early but to do what we have to do i would say 4:30-4;45. Set up should be easy. i went out earlier this week and did some prep work with the idea of not having to work to hard on saturday. See you there sz

You should have seen how tore up the range was before tactical... I'm going to bring the shivel out with some burlap sacks to haul off some of the steel casings people are leaving behind... So yeah that sounds okay to me...

Well that was fun Scott... I'll post a few pictures I took today tomorrow morning... and uh guess we better amend those calibers allowed... ;)
All in all I'll give that one a 8 next tactical were going to have to have you run people on the timers to get used to using those things...

Excellent job Scott & Victor!!

I had a blast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Constructive criticism = Use black shotgun shells for mini-sniping. Keep all relays the same number of firing positions and the same squad/positions (Maybe issue a Squad/position card, so they don't need to keep asking you what position they are in) (Keeps them less confused)
