Junior Shoot Program
Purpose:
The Junior Shoot is designed to give youths a solid foundation for learning how to safely shoot a rifle and enjoy the spirit of competition with other youth. Young men and women to learn the following skills during these shoots:
• Basics of gun handling (Mandatory one time session, before they can shoot)
• Shooting skills
• Different rifle shooting positions used in competition
• How to score targets
• Match etiquette
Shoot Date and Time - 4th Saturday of the month
Match Description - To start, the matches will be fired from the bench rest or prone position. Each shooter will fire at targets at a predetermined distance.
In addition, competitors in the Junior Shoot will have the opportunity to earn levels of competency in the NRA Marksmanship Program (light rifle category). This program provides incentive awards for developing and improving marksmanship skills. Performance is measured against established par scores and any shooter who meets or exceeds those scores is entitled to the corresponding recognition awards for that rating.
This program also meets the requirements for the Boy Scouts of America’s Rifle merit badge and is run by trained BSA merit badge counselors.
In order to attend the shoot. Juniors will be required to present a CSC Junior Liability Release signed by a parent or legal guardian.
We can not waive this requirement for anyone so please make sure the youth has this form with them on the day of the shoot.
