AB-1968 (Expanded 'mental health' gun bans)

Summary: This bill ban gun ownership for life, for any person who has been taken into custody, assessed, and admitted to a designated facility because he or she is a danger to himself, herself, or others, as a result of a mental health disorder two or more times in any 5-year period. Additionally, instead of being able to request a hearing to reinstate your gun rights immediately, the person would need to wait a minimum of 6 months.

Summary: Another Portantino gutted-and-amended bill from 2017, which was previously a bill about billboards in the city of Upland. According to current law, CA DOJ can inspect any FFL it wants, any time it wants. This bill would require them to do so a minimum of once every 3 years.
