Default Blackpowder Shoot Info

Date: Third Sunday of the Month (weather permitting)
Start Time: 9am (We recommend you arrive a little earlier to assist with setting up and signing in.)
Cost: $15.00 for Guest ; $10.00 for members
Equipment Required:
Rifle: Blackpowder Rifle any caliber. No Laser sights allowed
Eye and Ear protection: Mandatory
Not Allowed: Any smokeless powder or smokeless propelled ammunition

Information about the shoot:

Shooting consists of a series of successive steel targets staged at ranges of approx. 50yrds. (Chickens), 65 yards (Turkeys), 85 yards (Pigs), and 100yrds (Rams). All shooting is done from the non aided standing offhand position at a fixed firing line. There are a possible 16 points for the competition which are scored by striking and completely knocking down the selected steel target. If the target is successfully downed with the first shot two points are scored. If the first shot is unsuccessful the shooter would fire again, if the target is downed the shooter would receive one point for the second attempt. Only two attempts to down a particular target are allowed. If the target is not downed with the two shots the shooter receives no points for that target.

There are two categories of competition, Traditional Muzzleloader and Modern Muzzleloader. Course of fire is the same for each category.

Traditional Firearms and ammunition are:
Muzzle loading caplock or flintlock, smooth bore or rifled barrel, any iron sights. Lead patched ball with a maximum of 80 grains of black Powder or substitute. NO SMOKELESS POWDER OR COMBINATIONS ARE PERMITTED.

Modern Firearms and ammunition are:
Muzzle loading inline or centerfire, smooth bore or rifled barrel, all sights are permitted. Lead ball or nonplated conical bullets with a maximum of 80 grains of black powder or substitute. NO SMOKELESS POWDER OR COMBINATIONS ARE PERMITTED.

There will be Special Events at different times during the year which will be announced in the monthly newsletter.
